My Skuttles by Richard Feuerherm (Fort Mohave AZ US)
When I first had my home built in 1998 in Fort Mohave, AZ., where the summer temp is usual at 110degF.with a Humidity index of 10% or less, and the winter temp is never below 40degF with o/s humidity around 30%. I was advised by the cabinet makers that built our kitchen cabinets that I should have "Humidifiers" installed in our heating system. They said that the very low outside humidity even in the winter months in conjunction with the humidity inside the house being low due to the "forced air heaters" could cause the cabinet wood to "crack". We have two heaters in our attic. The heating company never told us that we had to change the "Skuttle filters", as we only had to wash the return filters in our house. These Skuttle filters were installed for over 7 years before they were changed. When we had some heater problems a new heating and aircondition company "Ambient Air", opened up the humidity fitler panel and removed the Skuttle Filters. There was so much build up of dried calcium and magnesium from the very hard water in our area that there was no place on the filter where one could see thru the filter. The service tech then told us that we must have the filters changed every year. Since that time, about 5 years now, we have changed our Skuttle filters on yearly schedule. Thank you for your Filters.
