Whole House Humidifier Float by Mark Zampino (Cromwell CT US)
The piece arrived in a timely manner and installation was a breeze. Although the instructions say "the float assembly must be on the same side of the humidifer as the motor that turns the drum," a very helpful Skuttle engineer told me on the phone that it can be installed on either side. I wound up also having to replace the small-diameter copper waterline feeding the humidifier, as it had become gunked up during its 14-year life. I replaced the copper pipe with a flexible but reinforced refrigerator waterline with 1/2" connection nuts and now the humidifier is working well again (the water flow into the unit had slowed to a trickle, providing very little water into the pan). The instructions say to only use copper pipe but here in Connecticut our water has a lot of minerals in it and they eventually clogged the thin copper pipe...

A17-1731-013 Float Valve Assy by Jon Roesler (Layton Ut US)
The new float valve, with a modern float made from foamed plastic instead of the original glass-bulb version (which finally broke) is not only a perfect fit, but likely to outlast the original... Our house was built in 1966 and the replacement was made in 2011, so I'm thinking this new one will almost certainly outlast ME!

Have not used to date, waiting for a warm day when heat is off expect to work fine as the original one.
My security button is missing by Bernard Plante (Manchester NH US)
Works great. Would like to see a way of removing the float and valve assembly without disassembling the water line from the assembly in order to remove the water tray for cleaning. The use of the rubber ferrule was practical in removing the tubing for reassembly and was reusable after many disassembles.

I was pleased with my purchase and the ease in ordering. I'm happy that your parts aren't as specific as auto parts from dealers. When I need the float assembly I want the entire float assembly, not specific pieces. BRAVO!

This was a small order but I was very pleased with the rapid response. My float assembly had become clogged with deposits over the years and would not allow water to enter the humidifier when I started up my furnance. The order came quickly and it was extremely easy to remove the old valve and install the new one. This was my second parts order over the years and I wish all products were this well supported.

Float Assembly by Richard Rysiewski (Utica MI US)
The new float assembly was easy to install and stopped the water leakage. The compression metal fit was superior to the replaced rubber gasget on the copper water pipe.
